LCRR is a private small animal rescue focusing mainly on the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of chinchillas, but also taking in other small animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, rats, mice, etc.
We currently have a maximum capacity for 12-36 chinchillas (depending on how many chins will share cages), though our average residency is 8-19 chins.
Our average running costs are approximately $300-$800 a month, depending on how many chinchillas are in residence at a given time, for food, hay, toys, treats, etc. Veterinary expenses, transport costs, replacement cages, new shelves, etc are all additional to this.
We are currently in the planning stages of constructing a new building for the rescue animals in light of recent council changes that will allow us to have a larger building!
